Fire Beat Manhattan 3-0
The Fire made the long trek to Brooklyn to take on the Manhattan Kickers and came away victorious 3-0.
The girls took control from the start connecting with good combinations and controlling the play. It took a little while before we were able to connect and it came from an outside defender who took a shot from the 25 and cought the keeper a bit offgaurd. 1-0 Fire and looking good. We were only able to get 1 goal in the first half but we still controlled the game. The girls were reminded that all it takes is one mistake and they could tie it up.
The second half was much of the same ball controll from the Fire and then soon came our second goal which started with a deep kick from our midfield which bounced once and hit the crossbar. Normally this would be a miss but on the kick, one of our forwards was running like a bat out of hell towards the goal. She didn't stop running as the ball hit the crossbar and came back out into the box. She had already passed everyone and was alone with the keeper. She burried it into the backof the net for a 2-0 lead. With about 4 minutes left in the game we had a free kick from the outside corner of the 18. Our sweeper rocketed a shot that went straight in over the outstretched hands of the keeper. 3-0 final.
Great work today girls and a good win!
